Tamer S. Issa, PT, DPT, OCS

Dr. Issa is an American Dutch-trained physical therapist. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2006, B.S. degree in Physiotherapy from the Hogeschool Enschede in the Netherlands in 1998 and his B.S. degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Pennsylvania State University in 1995.

Dr. Issa is a board-certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. He is also certified in Manual Trigger Point Therapy and Needling. Dr. Issa has coauthored a book chapter on the differential diagnosis of fibromyalgia. He is an instructor for myofascial trigger point therapy courses through The Janet Travell, M.D. Seminar Series.

Professional affiliations include membership in the American Physical Therapy Association’s Orthopedic and Private Practice Sections, American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists, International Myopain Society, and American Academy of Orofacial Pain.

Dr. Issa has specialized training in the field of craniofacial pain and temporomandibular dysfunction and has taken over 500 hours of continuing education courses focusing on orthopaedic manual therapy. He specializes in the physical therapy management of persons with acute and chronic pain with functional limitations. Dr. Issa’s treatment philosophy uses an integrated approach of manual therapy, trigger point dry needling, and functional exercise therapy.
